Zaga Dat? Well Mr Eazi’s Career Is Nearing Hollup In Nigeria, He Won’t Last For Long! See Reasons!! (Must Read)

Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade known professionally by his stage name Mr Eazi, is an artist signed to Starboy Worldwide Record Label.

He was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria but based in Ghana since late 2007.

Background

Mr Eazi, 27, is a Mechanical Engineering degree holder from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.

In Ghana, a country with so much animosity with his country of birth, Nigeria, his musical career kicked off with gusto.

He was able to collaborate with Ghanaian music big boys like Efya (his label mate), Sarkodie and others.

Musical Style

Mr Eazi is blessed with a unique ‘deep bass voice’ that has an identity with Nigerian trio Blackmagic, Ajebutter and Pepenazi.

Still, his category of tune has made him a ‘self made character’ from many top Nigerian artists on the block or put in laconic words- He writes his own scripts.

‘Its-your-boy-Eeeazzi’, a lyric he uses frequently in the early phase of some of his songs, is his ‘self made anthem’.

Recently, he was among the nominees for the Prestigious Next Rated category of the Headies Award which he eventually won.

Songs

In the previous years, between 2015 – 2016 precisely, Mr Eazi released debut singles that we were chart-topping songs in Africa, most notably: Skin Tight, Ohima (featured by DJ Spinall), Hollup, Sample You, Shitor, Fre Me and recently Leg Over.

No doubt, with his well deserved rise to fame, he has won the heart of many Nigerians and African Music lovers, and has been described by many as the one for the future, branding his Genre as “Banku Music” (a subset of Afrobeats), which is characterised by la!d back deliveries on majorly Afro-soulful instrumentals, influenced by his Ghanaian/Nigerian cultural upbringing.

However, here is the big question:

Is He really an artist built for the future? A puzzling question that needs analysis and scrutiny, and that is why the Boxanalyst crew has decided to do justice to Mr Eazi’s style of music.

Is Mr Eazi built for the future?

Mr Eazi’s sound is good when he is on a particular slow tempo with hard kick and few percussion, he definitely will kill the beat, when you try to listen to at least four (4) of his hit singles you discover you can actually sing almost all his lyric to just one of his beat and it will fit-in owning to the fact that he possesses just a particular tune.

The implication of this is that in the long run, Africans especially Nigerians will get fed up with the Mr Eazi’s type of sound.

History has shown that Artistes who lack the ability to adjust and adapt to the continuous changing trend of music in Africa and Nigeria in particular have been known to have their reign cut short, that is why the likes of 2Face, Timaya, Oritsefemi, Sound Sultan, Kcee and many more have been able to maintain their lead and keep their fans and fame intact.

Can Mr Eazi replicate the industrious works of Tuface and Sound Sultan??

Mr Eazi’s music is what we enjoy now, but how long is it going to last, 2, 3 or 4 more years? That is a puzzling question, however we hope to see him bring a new sound and new tempo to stay relevant in the ever changing Nigerian music industry.

Do you agree with this write up? Will Mr Eazi continue to trend in Nigeria for a long time or Will his music go out of taste soon? Drop your comments below!!
