Council Investigates 15 Lab Scientists On Alleged Misconduct, Indiscipline
The disciplinary committee of the Medical and Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), said it is investigating 15 laboratory scientists on alleged professional misconduct and indiscipline.
Dr Uche Uchebu, Chairman, Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee of the council, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
Uchebu pledged the resolve of the committee to check indiscipline, quackery, misconduct and other excesses by members.
According to him, clinical diagnosis must be accurate and mistake-free as any oversight in the diagnosis could lead to the death of the person diagnosed.
“As professionals we are doing everything possible to get to mistakes free laboratory tests in Nigeria.
“The quantum of fake reagents and fake equipments in the market would culminate into bad result which misled the doctor and negatively affect the patients,’’ he said

He explained that the committee comprised military, police, civil defence, doctors and laboratory scientists.
“Zero tolerance to fake and sub-standard public health diagnostic laboratory reagents, kits and accreditation.
“Promoting professionalism and elimination of quackery through effective regulation for quality health laboratory workforce,’’ the chairman assured the public. (NAN)
