Udoka Oyeka is a popularly known talented actor, movie producer and director. He directed the popular movie, titled “Living Funeral” which screened in a bunch of international film festivals.

He was born in Dallas, Texas, to Solomon and Florence Oyeka. At the early age of 2, his parents left the United States with his siblings for their home country Nigeria, where he grew up in the City of Lagos till he completed his primary and secondary education respectively.

His father was a chemical engineer who ran his own chemical factory and his mother, a civil servant, worked at the National port.

Educational Background

Udoka had his primary and secondary education in Nigeria. He later moved back to Dallas, Texas to attend the University of Texas at Arlington.

While in the University, he took an elective Course in Theatre Arts which eventually prepared him for stage and acting.

Upon graduation, Udoka immediately enrolled in Drama School to make a career in acting and film making.

Career

Udoka Oyeka released his first feature “ZR-7 (The Red House Seven)” in Cinemas nationwide (Nigeria) in 2011, a movie that earned him nomination for Best Child Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

He followed with the short film titled, “Down and Out” which also won three nominations including Best Short Film at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The same movie also had an official selection in 2013 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and was nominated for Best Short Film.

In 2014, Udoka was selected for the Berlinale Film Festival Talent Campus at the Durban International Film Festival where he unveiled his new project titled “No Good Turn”.

The talented and prolific actor is a lead cast member on the Hit TV series Tinsel, playing the role “Tsav“.

Udoka is also a veteran movie producer. He has produced and directed a good number of Nigerian movies including “Living Funeral” which screened in a bunch of international film festivals including Cannes Film Festival and Durban International Film Festival 2014 respectively.
