Benjamin Dube is a renowned South African gospel singer, Christian leader, music producer, father and mentor whose tremendous impact has transcend his home country to different parts of the African continent and the entire world.
He was born on the 23rd day of January 1972 in Johannesburg, South Africa to a Christian family. Benjamin is the youngest in a family of five children. His father was an evangelist and guitarist and his mother, a singer in the Assemblies of God church headed by the late Bishop Nicholas Bhengu.
Benjamin began singing interestingly at the young age of nine playing the guitar, drums and bass guitar alongside his older siblings in the church, known as the Dube Family singers.
His dynamic and spirit-inspiring mode of worship has made him the favorite artist of many fans of gospel songs.
The sad death of their Patriarch and father in 1976 led the family to tour the Netherlands, where they sang and shared stories of their father’s death. Afterwards, Dube’s family released an album titled “Vader Vergeef,” which means “Father Forgives.”
Benjamin Dube began his ministerial calling and solo music career with the release of a successful song titled “High Spirit” in 1986.
The gospel music icon and evangelist has since released over a dozen successful gospel albums over the years including songs like In His Presence I Feel Like Going On Worship In His Presence Oh! Benjamin also founded High Praise Center, a non-profit organization, located in Boksburg, Johannesburg. The High Praise Center which was inaugurated in 1994 has over 3,000 members. The centre has helped to free the captives and address the spiritual needs of the growing followers by day.
Aside being a successful gospel artiste and inspiration to younger musicians, Benjamin Dube has achieved so much for himself and made a name as one of the renowned gospel musicians that South Africa has ever produced.
The veteran has shared the stage with world gospel greats like Bishop Tudor Bismark, TD Jakes, John Francis, Kirk Franklin, and many other renowned speakers and musicians.
Benjamin Dube, despite his success as a gospel artiste, is said to have had two failed marriages before getting married to his current wife, Thabile Dube.
The dark-skinned epitome of beauty has been very supportive and brought joy and stability to his life and ministry. The union is blessed with four children named Mangi, Buhle, Sihle, and Mthokozisi Dube.
Interestingly, three of Benjamin Dube sons are members of a gospel music group known as “The Dube Brothers”, doing exceedingly well in gospel music.
