The 43-year-old announced his 2020 United States presidential election campaign through Twitter on July 4, 2020, Independence Day, and on July 16, 2020, the campaign filed a Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission.

Kanye reportedly received around 57,000 votes across the 12 states in which he was in the running.

According to a new report from People, Kanye West spent an eye-watering amount of money on his failed 2020 presidential attempt.

In a Federal Election Commission report, the rapper contributed $12.5 million of his own money and raised a little over $2 million from outside contributions to fund his Presidential bid.

The reports also notes that he'd raised $14.5m for his campaign and ended it with $1.3m left in the bank.

Last week, his wife Kim Kardashian filed for divorce to end their marriage of nearly seven years.

They are seeking to split physical and legal custody of their four children (North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, Psalm, 21 months) 50/50.
