Ojy Okpe is a popular Nigerian model who has attained International recognition. The stunning mother of two rose to the international modeling scene after emerging a finalist at the Face of Africa competition.
She was born on the 23rd of April, 1981 in the south eastern Nigeria to diplomatic parents who travelled widely across the country with her and her five siblings.
Ojy Ope had her primary education at Queensland Academy and Rainbow college, Lagos State where she obtained her First and secondary School Certificates respectively.
She finally bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Film Production in 2006 under scholarship at Saint John’s University in New York, USA.
Ojy was first discovered at the young age of 17 by talent scout Jan Malan who entered her into the face of Africa competition.
Ojy emerged a first class world model after the face of Africa competition of which she was a finalist.
Ojy got a contract from Storm Model Management and later moved to South Africa to hustle for work, precisely in fashion industry. Within weeks of modeling, this stunner graced the pages of Elle, Cosmopolitan, Drum, True Love and strutted the runway for SA fashion week.
She relocated to New York and soon became the muse for legendary swimwear brand, Gottex. She showcased their swimwear line every season at the New York Mercedes Benz fashion week.
She has worked for virtually every designer, doing trunk shows for Oscar De la Renta, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, Moschino, Ralph Lauren and Dolce & Gabbana.
In 2006, Ojy in partnership with the Salvation Army and the Red Cross, set up a foundation, a platform created to cater for the less privileged children in the society.
In 2007, the versatile and highly talented superstar came up with a campaign for L’Oreal’s Mizani. She was not only the face of the brand, but developed distribution channels for the products in her country.
Ojy Okpe is also a film producer. Through her Third Mainland Productions, she has done a number of Hollywood productions, working on multi-million dollar films such as The Devil Wears Prada, Spiderman 3, and Confessions of a Shopaholic and many others.
Awards and Achievements
Ojy Okpe has so far earned a good number of awards and recognition for her brilliant work in modeling and film making. They include:
“How the Harlem Globetrotters Battled Racism” – which won an Emmy Award at The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 58th Annual New York Emmy Awards.
She produced Mini Bio documentaries on Artists including Grammy Award winner Ciara and Janelle Monáe discography.
Aside modeling job, motherhood, film maker, Ojy is also an executive with Arise TV and actually began working at Arise News in September 2013, working as a Field Producer for the Networks entertainment channel Arise 360.

Ojy Okpe has been married to her husband, Austin Okpe some years ago, but the couple got separated in 2014 and both are in their separate ways.
Their marriage is blessed with two children, a boy and a daughter.
