Marvel Television's old Inhumans Twitter account has become active again, for the first time since December 2019. Marvel Television began the buildup to Inhumans all the way back in 2014, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. The original plan was to build up to an actual Inhumans movie, that was supposed to release shortly after Avengers: Infinity War. However, that never came to pass.

Inhumans became a TV series instead, with what Marvel hoped would just be the first season releasing in 2017. It was a flop, panned for poor plotting and sub-par special effects, and the Inhumans brand appeared permanently damaged - even affecting the comics. Marvel Comics had been building the Inhumans up for years in anticipation of their becoming a major franchise, and within two years of the TV show's failure the entire Royal Family had been killed off. The only Inhuman currently starring in any comic book is Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and it's been years since her stories made a mention of Inhumans or Terrigen Mist. Back in August 2019, Marvel Entertainment's then-SVP of Original Programming and Production, Karim Zreik, seemed to suggest the comic book publisher was worried further flops could damage other brands and was keeping a much closer eye on Marvel Television's output.

Now, though, the Inhumans Twitter handle has unexpectedly become active again, sharing the Super Bowl trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This is the first time the account has been used since December 2019, and even more surprisingly, it is one of only two heritage Marvel Television Twitter accounts to promote the trailer. The other is Agent Carter.

Kevin Feige was appointed Marvel Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer back in October 2019, meaning relations with Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment have improved significantly. Given that's the case, it would make sense for Marvel Studios to use all their social media accounts to promote their new, bigger-budget TV shows. Instead, though, only Inhumans and Agent Carter's Twitter accounts are being used for this purpose, with approximately 80,900 and 216,800 followers respectively. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Twitter account hasn't shared the Super Bowl trailer, and it has 1.1 million followers. None of the others have been active since February 2020.

All this feels rather intentional, raising the possibility Marvel Studios is intending to do something new with these two brands. A Ms. Marvel TV series is in the works, so it's possible Marvel intends to revisit the Inhumans there; one leaked casting call even used the word "Inhuman." Meanwhile, Chris Evans is in talks to return as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America, and it's possible that could be a post-Avengers: Endgame series exploring Steve Rogers' relationship with Peggy Carter now that he's traveled back in time (and potentially launched a whole new timeline). For now, the reactivation of the Inhumans and Agent Carter Twitter accounts is hardly strong evidence, but it's certainly curious.
