Fear the Walking Dead season 6 will return for its second half in April 2021. Serving as a spinoff to AMC's flagship post-apocalyptic zombie-horror TV-series, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, is also created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. When the show began in 2015, it largely focused on the blended Clark family as they prepared for a new life at the onset of a zombie apocalypse. But as the seasons progressed, the series kept on switching out its characters and expanding its world. Beginning with season 4, the show shifted its focus toward Lennie James' Morgan Jones' from the original show, who encounters the Clark family and then sets out to find new survivors in Texas.

Fear the Walking Dead had begun filming for season 6 in November 2019. But in March 2020, the show had to pause production due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the US. And it wasn’t until late August that the series resumed filming. Despite the production delays, Fear the Walking Dead’s sixth season premiered on October 11, 2020. The show broadcast seven episodes until its midseason finale on November 22, and later it went on hiatus to film the remaining episodes. The show is now gearing up to return for its second half. And AMC has announced the premiere date for the same.

AMC officially announced Fear the Walking Dead season 6 will return for its second part on Sunday, April 11 at 9/8c. The first episode that the show will broadcast once it’s back is the eighth episode of season 6, “The Door,” directed by Ian Goldberg & Andrew Chambliss. New episodes will then air weekly, and they will also be available to stream early on AMC+.

Once it returns, season 6 will seek to resolve several of the conflicts pending from its first half. Morgan (James) will endeavor to rescue the remaining members of his group, while Virginia (Colby Minifie) will make her best attempts to find her sister and protect the Pioneers. A trio of new characters, played by John Glover, Nick Stahl, and Keith Carradine, will also be introduced, significantly impacting the equations between the characters. There will additionally be some new alliances and changes in loyalties, and by the time the season concludes, viewers and characters will both discover what “The End is the Beginning” actually means.

Season 6 has been quite different from Fear the Walking Dead’s previous iterations. The show is darker and grittier, and it boasts an unusual anthology format, where individual episodes revolve around certain groups of characters. For this reason, critics are very much in awe of the show, with some even calling it “the best season ever.” Therefore, high hopes are riding on the second half, which is expected to wrap up all the narrative arcs cohesively. The mid-season hiatus had allowed the showrunners time to spruce up scripts and carefully execute season 6’s final episodes. So hopefully, the second will be just as brilliant as the first one. And with every new episode, audiences will step closer to decoding the mystery behind the new terrifying zombies and Dakota’s disappearance.
