Nigerians Must Be Ready To Fight Corruption – BBOG Group

As the new government commences operation in a few weeks, the #BringBackOurGirls group has called on the citizens of the country to gear up towards the fight against corruption in the nation.

Speaking during its daily sit-out yesterday, one of its members, Elvis Iyorngurum who explained that the fight against corruption should not be left for the government alone, added that if the nation will at all progress, there was need for the citizens to wake up from its slumbers and join in the corruption fight.

“The government of president Goodluck Jonathan failed because the citizen has failed to do its work. Fighting corruption is the responsibility of everyone of us. It should not be left for the government alone. We should all join hands to make it work,” he said.

Also speaking on the report that the National Emergency Management Agency had received over 3,000 Nigerians deported from Niger, Iyorngurum spoke on the need for the government to begin to take care of its citizens especially those who had suffered in the hands of the sect.

“The question we ask is does our government bother about the welfare of our citizens? It is high time government take the citizens seriously.

The live of every Nigerian must matter,” he said.

Recall that one of the member of the group, Maureen Kabrik had also called on the government to take proper care of the many women, girls and children who have been rescued by the military from the Sambisa Forest adding that the environment they sleep and eat will contribute to their healing process.

“There is no value for human beings in Africa. It doesn’t matter in this country. Even those rescued are not kept in a conducive environment.

We want the Nigeria government to do more for the people rescued. They have gone through a lot of trauma and they should be handled in a way that their lives will return to normancy.Where they will eat and sleep will contribute a great deal to their healing process.

She had decried the fact that there was no register of abducted Nigerians adding that unless the lives of the citizens in Nigeria begin to matter, the country will not progress.
