She was born 1985 in Aba, Abia State, the date of her birth not known. She hails from Akwa Ibom State in south southern Nigeria.
Mbong Amata had her primary and secondary education in Aba where she obtained her first and secondary school certificates respectively. She has since remained active and relevant in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Mbong Amata began her career after joining the Nigerian entertainment industry at the age of sixteen when she competed for Miss Akwa Ibom in 2003 as a model and was named Miss Akwa Ibom in 2004.
