The Netflix original Locke and Key, based on the comic series of the same name, is renewed for season 3 ahead of season 2 releasing in 2021.

The Netflix original Locke and Key has been renewed for season 3 ahead of its season 2 premiere. The show, based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's comic book of the same name, follows the titular Locke family moving into their deceased father's family home. Quickly after arriving, the children - Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode - discover mysterious keys that can be used to open various doors that lead them into otherworldly adventures. Locke and Key was renewed for season 2 in March, and began shooting in September.

Now, Netflix has announced that Locke and Key has been renewed for season 3. This news comes at the same time as Locke and Key co-showrunner Meredith Averill has signed a larger deal with Netflix, and she will go on to develop multiple projects for the streaming platform, per The Wrap. While some have criticized the series for toning down a lot of the horror elements compared to its source material, the show has overall been well received.
