Yemi Shodimu is a renowned Nigerian dramatist, television presenter, film maker and director.
He was born on the 29th of January, 1960 in Abeokuta, Ogun State in south western Nigeria.
Yemi grew up at the Palace of Egbaland in Abeokuta and this, many believe is responsible for his exposure to the rich Yoruba culture and tradition.
Yemi Shodimu had his primary and secondary education in Abeokuta where he obtained his first and secondary school certificates respectively.
He later bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Arts in Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication at the University of Lagos.
His Acting Career
Yemi Shodimu began his acting career in 1976, the same year he starred in television Series Village Headmaster. It was a popular movie that was a household name in Nigeria at the time.
He also starred in a hit Yoruba movie “Ajani in Eleku”, a movie directed and produced by Tunde Kelani in 1997. The Ogun State-born Nollywood superstar has featured in several award-winning movies some of which include:

He was a backup singer to popular Juju Music Legend, Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi in the early 70s, before he delved into acting in 1976.
