Okawa Shaznay is a popular Cameroonian Nollywood actress, the first from her country to successfully break into Nollywood and former Miss Cameroon based in the USA.

She was born on May 5th, 1986 in Bamenda, North Western Cameroon.

Educational Background

Okawa had her primary and secondary education in Cameroon and Presbyterian secondary school, Mankon, Bamenda, Cameroon respectively.

She moved into the United States of America with her family in 2005 and thereafter had a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in Texas Southern University in Houston, USA.

Her Acting Career

Okawa began her career in acting dated back to her days in the school in Cameroon when she used to perform stage plays and drama. While in USA, she joined the All African Theatre Group and played the role of Ezinne in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.

Okawa came to Nigeria and joined Nollywood where she acted her first movie, “Master DJ”, which was shot in Cameroon.

She was however brought to limelight after starring in a hit movie, ‘Iyore’ alongside top Nollywood stars like Joseph Benjamin and Rita Dominic.
