EP REVIEW: Reekado Banks - "Off The Record"
Amidst the recent crisis, Nigerian popstar Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon popularly known as Reekado Banks presents a new body of work tagged “Off The Record”.
The 7-tracks extended play “Off The Record” EP features popular African stars like Tiwa Savage, AttiFaya, Mr Eazi, Harmonize, EO and Kida Kudz. Reekado Banks carefully selected a bunch of lovely tunes previously recorded for his next album to feature on this EP.
Reeky though omitted his ‘Omo Olomo’ song on the EP due to his little friction with Wizkid ended up replacing it with another street vibe featuring talented youngster, AttiFaya. The extended play was produced by Young John, Blaise Beatz, Tuzi, Ida Banton, Tee Y Mix and Altims.
The former Mavin records recording artist, Reekado Banks who now operates under his own imprint, Banks Music finally dished out his first project after “Spotlight” and the second project of his career tagged “Off The Record”. The astounding body of work bears two solo-performed tracks and was supported with a single.
The first track “Need More” featuring Kida Kudz and EO is a funky tune produced by Blaise Beatz. It has this London vibe embedded in a spanking instrumental.
“Happy Yourself” could be considered one of the popular African melodies in this extended play. It’s a solo-performed track on this project as well. Reekado Banks talks about taking things easy and making out time to celebrate oneself despite life’s challenges.
Reekado Banks, Tuzi and Altims join forces in this electrifying melodious vibe tagged “Rora”. The track was released over a year and was one of the banging tunes released last year.
In a beautiful Young John produced afrobeat track dubbed “Speak To Me”, Reekado Banks employs the services of his former Mavin records colleague, Tiwa Savage.
With his recent issues with Wizkid, a “You Dey Mad” song only appears to be a diss track. Reekado Banks teams up with a young talented singer, AttiFaya in “You Dey Mad”.
In a piece of electronic dance music instrumental with alluring funky sounds, Reekado Banks and Mr Eazi talks about the negativity that revolves around people in “People Dey”.
Tanzanian singer, songwriter and dancer, Harmonize links up with Reekado Banks in a Tee Y Mix produced sound to perform “Mama”.
