Tobin Bell is an American actor and singer. He is best known for his portrayal of John Kramer / Jigsaw in the eight films of the Saw franchise.
Tobin Bell was born on August 7th, 1942 in Queens, New York. Tobin Bell often plays the role of a villain and serial killer in movies and TV shows. In 1982, he had a short uncredited scene in the Sydney Pollack film, Tootsie. In the mid-1980s, he said "I was doing off-Broadway plays three nights a week, working on my craft". In 1994, he played a hospital administrator in the second episode of the first season of ER. He was cast as Unabomber Theodore John Kaczynski in the made-for-TV movie Unabomber. He can be spotted in a variety of made-for-TV movies, sitcoms, and prime-time dramas, such as Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, The X-Files, and The Sopranos. He is perhaps best known for his role as Jigsaw, a serial killer with a penchant for torturing his victims physically and psychologically in the gruesome Saw film series. He provided his voice in two video games based on the films, Saw and its sequel, Saw II: Flesh & Blood. He received a 2006 MTV Movie Award nomination for "Best Villain" and a nomination for "Best Butcher" in the Fuse/Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. He has never been, and to this day is not, a fan of horror films, despite playing his menacing character Jigsaw in the "Saw" movies. In 2007, he starred in Decoys 2: Alien Seduction, The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It, and Buried Alive, which were all released direct-to-video. In his spare time he coaches a Little League Baseball team and flag football hiking and also likes playing guitar and hiking. He splits his time with his wife and two children between his homes in New York and Los Angeles. He is married and has two children.
