The Mandalorian season 2's infamous jeans-wearing crew member gets their own character poster. Starting with the titular Mandalorian himself, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Disney+ Star Wars series has in just a handful of episodes introduced a number of memorable new characters to the sprawling sci-fi/adventure universe.

It goes without saying that The Child aka Baby Yoda is by far the most popular of the new characters brought to life on The Mandalorian (notwithstanding the occasional unfortunate egg chomping incident). In addition to The Child, season 1 also introduced the wise Ugnaught Kuiil, the tough Alderaanian Cara Dune, Carl Weathers’ Greef Karga and of course Giancarlo Esposito’s darksaber-wielding Moff Gideon. Season 2 has indeed picked up right where season 1 left off, giving fans new heroes to root for like Timothy Olyphant’s armored space marshal Cobb Vanth and Dee Bradley Baker’s Frog Lady, as well as new villains like Titus Welliver’s unnamed but memorable Imperial Captain. Of course, some Star Wars fans already knew about new season 2 character Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff), but for those not into the universe’s animated shows the character arrived as an entirely fresh discovery.

But perhaps the most unlikely new fan-favorite character of The Mandalorian season 2 is someone no one saw coming at all, including the show’s crew. While watching episode 4 “The Siege,” fans noticed this unexpected new character dressed in jeans and a gray shirt just on the edge of the frame during an action scene featuring Karga, Dune and Mando. Just like Din Djarin himself, the character’s face is never seen, only adding to their aura of mystery. Now thanks to artist Jordan Delgadillo, the nameless person has their own character poster which can be seen in the space below:

The internet of course has been having a lot of fun with the jeans-wearing Mandalorian crew member ever since it caught wind of his arrival, much as it did after it learned of the wayward Starbucks coffee cup that made its way into a scene on Game of Thrones (Starbucks of course does not exist in the Game of Thrones universe). While gently mocking Mandalorian for its own hilarious gaffe, the above art also makes fun of shows and movies that employ such character posters in marketing, creating specific images even for characters who have very little to do with the action.

Star Wars of course has often been accused of hyping characters that ultimately didn’t really have anything to do with the story, the worst case being Captain Phasma, the silver-helmeted Stormtrooper from the sequel trilogy who clearly only existed to sell toys. The Mandalorian to its credit has largely avoided such ploys, as most of the show’s characters are in the story for a good reason. The show has also for the most part avoided embarrassing on-screen gaffes, though as the jeans-wearing crew member incident demonstrates, even a show as polished as The Mandalorian is not immune to the occasional funny mistake.
