McBrown was born on August 15, 1977 in Kumasi, Ghana.

Her parents; Kwabena Nkrumah (father) and Celicia Agyenim Boateng divorced when Nana Ama was a barely young.

After her parents parted ways, it was difficult for her mother to take care of Nana Ama and her other 6 siblings, thus they wer adopted by Kofi McBrown and her aunt, Madam Betty Obiri Yeboah.

Nana alongside her six siblings were raised in Kwadaso, Kumasi by her aunt and her adopted father.

Nana Ama went to St. Peter’s International Residential School and proceeded to Minnesota International and then to Central International. She also continued her education at Kwadaso L.A. J.S.S, but she couldn’t complete her education. She eventually dropped out and was not able to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Exams.

Career

McBrown started her acting career in 2001 where she got her first role in the movie “That Day”.

The movie “That Day” had opened doors for the beautiful actress who got a role on the television series “Tentacles”.

Nana Ama became a household name in 2007 with her interesting role in the movie “Asoreba” starring alongside Agya Koo and Mercy Aseidu.
