Court Orders INEC To Restore Ethiope West Constituency

A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to restore the Ethiope West State Constituency 1, long suppressed by the commission, insisting that by virtue of the provision of Section 91 and 112 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, the Delta State House of Assembly is not properly constituted and that INEC has no power under the constitution to suppress the constituency.

The court also directed INEC to conduct election into the Ethiope West Constituency 1, for the purpose of electing a member to represent it at the Delta State House of Assembly.
