The Witches Cast Explains How To Identify A Witch

The Witches cast provides tips on identifying witches in the real world. The Witches is based off of Roald Dahl's beloved 1983 novel. The book was adapted into a 1990 live-action film by Nicolas Roeg, whose chilling portrayal of both the witches and the Grand High Witch terrified an entire generation of viewers. That being said, legendary director Robert Zemeckis, who has worked on films such as Death Becomes Her and Monster House, will helm the upcoming remake of The Witches.

In Roeg's 1990 film, the storyline centers around Luke Eveshim (Jasen Fisher), who goes on vacation with his grandmother Helga (Mai Zetterling). Luke and his friend Bruno Jenkins (Charlie Potter) accidentally stumble across a ballroom of witches, who promptly turns the two boys into mice. That being said, Zemeckis' The Witches will make several significant changes when compared to the book and the 1990 movie; for example, The Witches remake takes place in 1960s Alabama during the Jim Crow era, rather than 1980s England. Moreover, Zemeckis has supposedly added in a sociological element to the story as well, although he's remained vague on what exactly this means.

Warner Bros. Pictures shared a new video via Twitter, where The Witches stars provide tips on how to identify a witch. Octavia Spencer shares that witches will "wear wigs and when they take the wigs off, they're all bald." Anne Hathaway dishes that witches "have elongated mouths that stretch to their ears" while Stanley Tucci explains that "their nostrils are larger than most." The video also shares clips from the forthcoming film, including scenes with Hathaway's Grand High Witch. You can check out this cool promotional video below:

There was a period of time when it seemed The Witches' theatrical release date would be pushed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, Warner Bros. confirmed that the film would have a worldwide theatrical release on October 28th. In addition, HBO Max subscribers will be able to stream The Witches one week early, starting October 22nd. As such, it's both fun and exciting to see cast members coming together to promote the film. especially since many of The Witches' stars have been relatively quiet on social media.

Judging from the trailers, Zemeckis' The Witches will be every bit as frightening as its predecessor. Regardless, though, the film's PG rating means that families will still be able to enjoy the movie together, just in time for Halloween. While The Witches reboot will most certainly put a unique spin on Dahl's original story, the movie still seems poised to become an instant spooky fan favorite.
