WandaVision Set Photo Tricks Marvel Fans Into Expecting Black Widow

New WandaVision set photos mislead fans into assuming that Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson) will appear in the show. Officially kicking of MCU's Phase 4, the upcoming series will reunite Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's star-crossed lovers following the Infinity Saga. While there's no exact release date confirmed, it's expected to drop on Disney+ at the end of the year.

Arguably one of the most intriguing projects in Marvel Studios' current confirmed slate, WandaVision is inspired by classic sitcoms over the years, with visual parallels to shows like I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch, and Full House. The show sees a newly-married Wanda and Vision moving to a suburb and living what seems to be a perfect family life. Not everything is as good as it looks from the outside, however, as Vision is supposed to be dead in real life. This means that Wanda may have created an alternate reality that she prefers.

Filming for the Marvel Studios project continues in Los Angeles after the bulk of its principal photography took place in Atlanta. This has revealed a batch of fresh set images from WandaVision — including shots of an actress sporting a blonde bob hairdo, leading fans to believe that this is Black Widow as she wore a similar hairstyle in Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately, this is not the case as the actress in the image is Kathryn Hahn. Check out the snap shared on Twitter by user @yelxnat:

Not much is known regarding Hahn's role in WandaVision, with Marvel Studios not even confirming her character's full name yet. Rumors suggest that Hahn is playing Agatha Harkness — Wanda's mentor in the comics who also becomes her foe. There are a few clues backing up this theory including her witch get-up and cackle in the trailer; it's also worth noting that she's name Agnes in the official promotional footage which could be a combined shortened version of Agatha Harkness. Regardless of who she really is playing, Hahn will also be jumping through eras in the show like Wanda and Vision. This get-up will more likely be for a scene supposedly set in the '60s since this hairstyle was popular during that time.

To be fair to fans, with Hahn's face covered with a face mask, it's easy to assume that she's Johansson sporting Black Widow's do from Infinity War. The fact that Wanda is warping reality in WandaVision also means that anything can happen in the show, including bringing back certain MCU characters who don't really have anything to do with the show's premise. As disappointing as it may be to learn that Natasha Romanoff isn't appearing on the small screen project, people can still see her in the franchise despite her death in Avengers: Endgame in Cate Shortland's Black Widow, set to release next May.
