Real Madrid and AS Roma have reached an agreement for the loan deal of striker Borja Mayoral, who will be playing with the Italian side for the next two seasons, according to reports from the Spanish press.

Mayoral will also get a contract extension with Real Madrid until 2023, given that his current deal was set to expire in the summer of 2021.

That means that the Spanish attacker will return to the club in 2022 if Roma decide not to trigger the option to buy him permanently.

Therefore, Luka Jovic will be Karim Benzema’s backup this season. There were some reports saying that the Serbian striker was also going to leave on loan, but Madrid ultimately decided to keep him around, even more so after he managed to feature in the team’s starting lineup for the last two games, where he showed some improvements and even made some decisive plays.

Mayoral’s deal with Roma should be announced this weekend if he passes his medical, given that the transfer window closes on Sunday.
