Tyrone Mings Signs Contract Extension At Aston Villa

The 27-year-old England international has agreed new terms which will keep him at Villa Park until 2024.

Mings has been rewarded for his performances since joining in a £20million move from Bournemouth last summer

The new deal is on significantly improved terms and is part of Villa’s plan to raise their wage structure as they look to challenge further up the Premier League table.

Jack Grealish, the club’s top earner, last week agreed a contract which saw his wage increase from £75,000 to around £125,000-a-week.

John McGinn and Douglas Luiz, two of Villa’s other top performers, are also expected to be offered new deals in the coming weeks.

Mings has proved an excellent acquisition since initially joining on loan from Bournemouth in January 2019, when Villa were still in the Championship.

After helping them win promotion through the play-offs he then joined on a permanent deal, making 33 appearances in the Premier League last season as Villa stayed up on the final day.

Mings was also capped twice by England last term and has been a regular in Gareth Southgate’s squads for the past year.

His new deal was announced just hours before Villa kicked off their new Premier League campaign, at home to Sheffield United.
