How Real Madrid Funds Boosted Chelsea’s Spending On Ziyech, Werner, Havertz Deals

Chelsea is funding their summer splurge this year from the enormous deal struck to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in 2019.

The breakdown of the agreement negotiated by the Blues director, Marina Granovskaia, has been revealed.

The Stamford Bridge outfit will end up banking £143 million in total, having received £36m upfront last year, according to Voetball.

This year, Real will pay Chelsea £50m and in 2021, the Premier League club will see its coffers boosted further by £57m.

The deal is all the more remarkable, as Hazard was already pushing to leave Chelsea and had just one year left on his contract at the time.

Hazard himself has struggled with form and fitness in his debut LaLiga campaign, making the deal sweeter for Frank Lampard’s side.

Chelsea has broken the record for the biggest ever Premier League summer spend.

Kai Havertz will follow Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell through the door at Stamford Bridge, four players recruited at a combined fee of around £230m.
