Police Commends Kaduna Residents For Peaceful Conduct During Elections

The Kaduna State Police Command has commended the people of the state for their exemplary conduct during the just concluded general elections.


The command’s spokesman, Zubairu Abubakar, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said there were no major security breaches throughout the period of the elections.


He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna that the tremendous cooperation of the general public had ensured that the elections were conducted peacefully in the state.


“No major election violence was reported or recorded in any of the 23 local government areas during and after the election in the state.

“Though there were some challenges during the elections, but it did not lead to break down of law and order.


“This is because of the support we received from the general public and the proactive measures we took before, during and after the elections”.


Abubakar who noted with delight the “good synergy between security operatives” during the period, said this would help to sustain peace in the state.


The police spokesman also commended officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the media for their professional conduct, which helped to ensure orderly conduct of residents throughout the period.


He particularly hailed INEC “for conducting fair, free and credible election in which the wishes of people prevailed”. (NAN)
