Manchester United Loanee Kieran O'Hara Given 6-Game Ban for 'Biting' Opponent

Manchester United goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara has been handed a six-game ban whilst on loan at Burton Albion for biting an opponent.

The 23-year-old is halfway through a season-long loan spell with the League One club, making 42 appearances across all competitions, as well as breaking into the senior Republic of Ireland squad.

But O'Hara has now been given a six-game ban and fined him £2,500 for breaching FA Rule E3, which the Daily Mail says relates to an alleged 'biting' incident during Burton's recent match against Peterborough.

The Burton Albion FC goalkeeper denied that his behaviour during the 44th minute of an EFL League One fixture against Peterborough United FC on Saturday 29 February 2020 amounted to violent and or improper conduct," an initial statement about the decision read.

But the charge was subsequently found proven."

Burton manager Nigel Clough has already confirmed that the club will appeal the decision to impose a six-game ban on O'Hara.

The alleged 'biting' incident came during their recent 1-1 draw at home to Peterborough, where O'Hara has a clear altercation with Sammie Szmodics.

The Brewers still have an outside chance of reaching the play-off spots in League One this season, although O'Hara's suspension would leave Clough's side with a real mountain to climb during the last few weeks of the campaign.

O'Hara was looking to impress out on loan as his contract with parent club Manchester United expires at the end of the season.

But instead, the 23-year-old has made headlines for all the wrong reasons, and United are unlikely to extend O'Hara's contract after his Luis Suárez-esque antics at the Pirelli Stadium last week.

The club are already having headaches over how soon-to-be England international Dean Henderson will fit into the first-team next season, so O'Hara should be allowed to leave on a free transfer this summer.
