Gunmen abduct four months old baby in Delta community

OLEH-UNIDENTIFIED gunmen have abducted a four month old baby near Oviri-Olomoro community, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta state.

It was learnt that the mother had gone with the baby to weed their farmland near the community in the company of her sister and her two children, after several hours of working in the scotching sun, decided to take shelter, relax and have their lunch.

As the sisters were searching for the shelter, sources said, they came across an isolated building situated at the outskirt of the community.

A source who sought anonymity, disclosed that a middle aged woman appeared from the building and invited them into the house which which was said was sparely furnished and urged the farmers to make themselves comfortable.

The source said the unsuspecting women entered the building and were midway into their meal when they noticed a black colored jeep approaching the building.

Sensing danger, the source said, the eldest of the sisters took her children and ran out of the house, but her sister who was then breastfeeding her baby was still making efforts to escape when the jeep finally stopped.

He further stated that two strange men alighted from the vehicle and walked towards the helpless woman and ordered her to give them the baby at gunpoint, adding that the hoodlums succeeded in grabbing the baby from her grip and drove away to an unknown destination.

Efforts to contact the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Oleh police division were abortive as at the time of filling this report, but a senior police officer in the division said the matter had not been reported to them.
