Goethe-InstitutNigeria and Lagos Film Society have combined to host the Lagos premiere ofAfrican Metropolis on Saturday, November 29, 2014.
African Metropolis, a compilation of six short fiction films set in six major African cities, is a unique partnership towards new African cinema.
The films, from Abidjan, Cairo, Dakar, Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi, tell urban tales about life in African metropolitan cities, according to a statement from the organisers.
According to available data, over 50 percent of the continent’s total population now lives in cities and vital urban cultures are forming and transforming – fast, and with growing complexity.
The event will commence by 3pm prompt at the Nigerian Film Corporation’s Old Film Unit (beside Voice of Nigeria) on Ikoyi Road, Obalende, Lagos and there will be a post-screening discussion with LFS’ Didi Cheeka, the Nigerian director, Folasakin Iwajomo, andVictor Okhai, producer (THE LINEUP), and founder of IN-SHORT Film Festival.
African Metropolis comprises: THE LINE-UP (Folasakin Iwajomo, Lagos), TO REPEL GHOSTS (Philippe Lacôte, Abidjan), THE CAVE (Ahmed Ghoneimy, Egypt), THE OTHER WOMAN (Marie Ka, Senegal), BEREA (Vincent Moloi, Johannesburg), HOMECOMING (Jim Chuchu, Nairobi).

The event is part of an ongoing collaboration with the Nigerian Film Corporation Lagos, which involves monthly film screenings at the NFC, with this edition supported by GT Bank and Ndani TV.
