FA charges Mourinho for improper conduct against West Ham

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has been charged by the Football Association, after he was sent to the stands during their 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday.

The former Chelsea boss, who was frustrated after Paul Pogba was booked for diving, kicked water bottles in anger.

“Jose Mourinho has been charged following Manchester United’s game against West Ham United on Sunday, 27 November 2016,” confirmed the FA in a statement.

“It is alleged his behaviour in or around the 27th minute of the game amounts to improper conduct.

“He has until 6pm on 1 December 2016 to respond to the charge.”

It is the second time in three Premier League fixtures at Old Trafford, that Mourinho has been banished from the touchline.

The Portuguese failed to show up for post-match media duties and sent his assistant, Rui Faria, in his stead.

Faria said at the time: “The referee explained it to Jose and there is nothing more to say. I think [it was] frustration from Jose after the yellow card for Pogba. It should be a foul for us but the referee understood it in another way.

“I don’t take over. I follow the normal procedure. The boss is Jose all the time and he passes on what is the best for the team and we just try to make it happen without having him there.”

Mourinho was dismissed during last month’s 0-0 draw with Burnley. That time, it was for confronting referee Mark Clattenburg at half-time.

He was given a one-match touchline ban from the FA for his behaviour, after he accepted an improper conduct charge.

The former Chelsea boss was also fined £50,000 earlier this season for media comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor before United’s game at Liverpool.
