Germany, Portugal avoid each other in 2017 Confederations Cup draw

The draws for next year’s Confederations Cup have been conducted in Kazan.

Hosts Russia will take on Euro 2016 winners Portugal, Mexico and New Zealnad in Group A.

Current world champions, Germany, have been placed in Group B, along with Chile, Australia and the winner of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament will act as a warm-up for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It will kick off in Saint Petersburg on June 17 until July 2. Matches will also be staged in Kazan, Moscow and Sochi.
