We will win CAF Confederation Cup at first attempt – FC IfeanyiUba’s midfielder, Akakem

FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s midfielder, Akakem Onyekachi has said the Anambra Warriors are aiming to win the CAF Confederation Cup at first attempt next season.

The Nnewi side, formerly known as Gabros International, won the 2016 Federation Cup and earned a Caf Confederation Cup ticket.

Akakem told Goal, “Firstly I will say that God alone made it possible, by giving me the wisdom to choose FC Ifeanyi Ubah over other potential suitors that came my way at the end of the 2015 NPFL season.

“Actually turns out to be the best choice as it has been the most fulfilling season for me since I debuted in the Nigerian professional football league. Winning the Federation Cup is the highlight of the 2016 season for me and that sums it up.

“My expectations for the Caf Confederations Cup is nothing different from the goals and aspirations of winning it at first attempt.

“Recruitment is presently ongoing to strengthen the squad for the utmost task ahead as we all know continental football is far more competitive than the domestic league.

“Our advantage will be the massive support from our ever determined president Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who will make sure we get the necessary motivation to deliver as well as our esteemed supporters and unwaivering fans.”
