Why Team Nigeria wore tracksuits to 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony

Team Nigeria marched with tracksuits at the opening ceremony of this year’s Olympic Games, because the official kits did not arrive in Rio on time.
According to Alexander Wolff, a Sports writer covering the Games, “Nigeria, marching in sweats because official outfits didn’t make it to Rio. Can we agree that they’re a country to pull for these two weeks?”

This follows a trend set by the men’s football team, the Dream Team VI, who touched down in Manaus, Brazil just seven hours before their opening game against Japan.

Nigeria’s preparation for the competition, has been riddled with logistic and financial challenges
