Heartland to play behind closed doors

The Naze Millionaires, who were investigated by the league organisers, have been sentenced for disturbances during their match with Ifeanyi Ubah FC

The League Management Company have fined Heartland FC the sum of 4.5 million and have ordered to play their next three home games behind closed door owing to crowd disturbances in their 0-0 draw against Ifeanyi Ubah FC.

After watching video replays, the Naze Millionaires violated six count violations of the NPFL Framework and Rules for failing to ensure restriction of access to restricted areas by unauthorised persons during the game against the Anambra Warriors – this attracted the sum of N750,000.

The clubs was also fined an additional 750,000 for their inability to provide adequate security and ensure crowd control in the manner in which ‘match officials and visiting team got exposed as the home crowd hurled objects on the field of play.

Heartland's first match behind closed doors will be against Nasarawa United on August 7, with the second match coming against Shooting Stars and the third against Ikorodu United in September.

The Naze Millionaires are in the relegation zone with 30 points from 27 matches.
