Sudan coach claims Flying Eagles underrated his players

Head coach of Sudan’s U-20 team, Mohammed Abdullah Mazda, has praised his team for overturning a first-leg defeat to Nigeria, to qualify for the 2017 U-20 AFCON in Zambia.
Mazda’s boys came from behind to shock the Flying Eagles 4-3 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday, qualifying for next year’s tournament on away goals rule.

Speaking after the game, he said the hosts paid the price for underrating them.

“Despite losing the first leg at home, we still believed we could still qualify and that reflected in our performance today,” he told CompleteSports.

“Your team (the Flying Eagles) thought everthing was over after the first leg, but we showed them the other side of football.

“I want to congratulate my players for their effort. They wanted the win more than Nigeria and that is why we are going to Zambia.”
