Barcelona release Nigerian defender, Ekpolo

Barcelona have confirmed that they will not renew the contract of Nigerian defender, Godswill Elohor Ekpolo.
The 21-year-old has been with the Spanish club for 11 years and was due for a new deal this summer, but Barca have decided not to offer him one.

Ekpolo started out with CDC Torreforta, before he was scouted by Barcelona. He worked his way through the ranks at La Masia and was tipped to make the first team.

He went on to play for their U-18 and U-19 teams, helping them win the Nike Premier Cup in 2010 and the UEFA Youth League in 2014.

Ekpolo recently featured for Nigeria’s U-23 side, in their 1-0 win over Brazil in a friendly match.
