Perth Glory captain Richard Garcia confident his side can continue unbeaten run against Melbourne Victory

Lowe faces a race against time to make the flight to Melbourne on Saturday after falling ill this week.

Several other players — including Garcia — have also been la!d low by a bug this week, but none are expected to miss Sunday’s match.

Assistant coach Andy Ord has taken charge of training this week in the absence of Lowe, and Garcia said it had been business as usual.

“You never want to see someone ill, especially the man in charge,” Garcia said after training on Thursday.

“But if he is ill, we’ll have to go over there and do the job without him.

“Ordy and Milo (goalkeeper coach Danny Milosevic) and the rest of the staff are quite capable of taking the side and laying out (Lowe’s) instructions.

“As much as Kenny’s not there, he’s still there as far as his instructions are concerned.” Glory are riding a wave of confidence after snaring two wins and a draw from their past three games.

In contrast, Victory’s title defence is hanging by a thread following a four-game losing streak.

Ord said the pressure would be on Victory to rebound.

“It’s better to be playing them when they’re losing, no doubt,” Ord said.

“They’ll all be asking questions in their camp, ‘What’s going wrong?’.

“They’re going to be very determined. But if you can get on top (of them), there’s going to be some chinks in the armour.” Glory beat Victory 1-0 in Perth last week, but Ord said the re-match will be much tougher given it will be played at Melbourne’s AAMI Park fortress.

Perth midfielder Nebojsa Marinkovic (hamstring) is likely to miss another match, while import Guyon Fernandez (foot/hamstring) appears no closer to a return.
