Buhari Inaugurates Dalong As Minister For Youth And Sports

Dalong had his primary education at the LEA Primary School Sabon Gida between 1971 and 1977. He then moved to Government College Keffi, currently in Nassarawa state, where he had his secondary education.


The distinguished minister later joined the Nigeria Prisons Service in the early 80s as against becoming part of the military; a tradition common to his community.


Still in the Prisons Service, Dalong enrolled to study Law at the University of Jos in 1991. The unpredictable academic system as at that time affected him as he spent nine years before graduating with LLB.

He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, in the FCT and completed it in 2000 before he got called to the Bar in 2001.


He worked as the Personal Assistant to Chief Solomon Lar who was then the Adviser Emeritus to President Olusegun Obasanjo.

This job lasted until 2003.
He went back to the University of Jos where he graduated from in 2004, this time as a Lecturer.


He was appointed Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area after he concluded his LLM program successfully in 2007 and served as the Pleateau state chairman of the Local Government Association (ALGON); his tenure ended in 2008.


The barrister later served as Legal Officer II in the prisons headquarters prior to retirement after he lost an attempt to represent Langtang North and South at the National Assembly.


Dalong believes that governance is a social responsibility and a democratic leader is equivalent to a human god, having the responsibility to determine the destiny of his followers.
