Liverpool’s Sturridge To Return In January

The England international is currently working with specialists at MLB side Boston Red Sox, as he continues to recover from a thigh injury he sustained in November.

Speaking to the media after Liverpool’s 2-2 home draw with Arsenal, Rodgers was asked when he expected Sturridge to return.

“That will probably be just after the Christmas period,” the northern Irish boss replied. “The first phase of his rehab was out in LA where we did some specific work with him there.

Daniel Sturridge Will be Back in January.
“He’s gone to Boston to pick up the next stage, then he’ll move on again to a specialist facility out there and hopefully in the early part of the New Year he’ll be back and be somewhere close to being fit and playing.”

Sturridge has not featured for the ‘Reds’ since the win over Tottenham Hotspur on August 31. But Rodgers is positive he will be in contention for a role in his team at some point in the coming month.

“At some stage in January, we’ll look to get Dan back. That will be really exciting for this team,” he said.
“We’ll put him into the mix again and go back to that flow of our game and results, hopefully.”
