Lil Wayne’s new album might have received mixed criticism, but it still got streamed millions of time in its first week. As you already know, Free Weezy Album was supposed to be a free project, but it was exclusively released via TIDAL and the platform doesn’t offer a free plan.
Ten days after the project dropped, the Jay Z-helmed streaming service issued a tweet in which was revealed FWA was streamed over 10 million times in its first week on TIDAL. But should we be impressed with the achievement? Well, if we compare it to Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify record–To Pimp a Butterfly got streamed 9.4 million times in its first 24 hours and 9.8 million times in its second 24 hours – Weezy’s feat is nothing to brag about. But then again, Spotify has was more subscribers than TIDAL and has a free plan.
Anyway, congratulations to Tunechi and his team! How it’s time to focus on Tha Carter Vand his legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money which escalated the other day.
