Boko Haram: CAN directs churches to collect special offering for the persecuted Church

AS Christians in northern Nigeria continue to die in the hands of Boko Haram in its quest for an Islamic state, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has declared a day to raise money to alleviate the suffering of the brethren in that region.
Acknowledging the plight of displaced men, women and children scattered across the northern region, especially the three north-eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, CAN directed all churches in the country to collect a special offering on Sunday, December 7, to cushion the effect of the war.
Addressing 943 delegates from 29 states of the country and Cameroon to the 27th Word of Life Bible Church annual convention, tagged Jubilee Word Festival, at the International Gospel Centre, Warri, founder of the church and President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, confirmed that Boko Haram insurgents have shut down several churches in the region.
The delegates, made up of 584 male and 360 females, at the Friday morning interactive session, took turns to narrate their different ordeals, commending the CAN President for giving them a voice and hope where there was none. One after the other, they solicited the support of southern Christians because, according to them, they do not see the relief efforts by the Federal Government.[ads4]
Responding, Oritsejafor announced that CAN had sent letters to all the churches in the country, asking them to collect a special offering on December 7 to alleviate the hardship of the brethren in the North.
