Van Gaal
Dutchman Louis van Gaal is looking for his first win as United Manager in a competitive game but MK Dons shook the young and fringe players united put out.
United had fielded, Fringe players like Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Shinji Kagawa and Anderson were given chances to fight for a place in the first team.
But they all under-performed. Until the dying stages, when the Dons’ victory had already been assured, home goalkeeper David Martin had very little to do.
Grigg had opened the scoring in the first half when he placed the ball past David de Gea from close range.
As United battled for an equalizer, Grigg scored again to raise his tally to two in the game with a clever chested finish from an excellent Ben Reeves cross.
Then Benik Afobe came on in the second half and scored two goals on the 70th and 84th minute to wrap up a historic night for the home side.
United had just signed Argentine forward, Di Maria for a british record fee so he was not available for the game.
This is Van Gaal’s second loss after losing 1-2 at home to Swansea on opening night, pilling more pressure on the respected Dutch coach to figure out a way and take United back to its Glory days.
