A teen, Raul Lopez was accused of suffocating his pregnant girlfriend in a mall over a dispute about the name of their unborn child.
Raul and his girlfriend got into a heated exchange at a Walmart store on Wednesday after he suggested their baby be named after him. His girlfriend wasn’t too fond of the idea, NBC 2 reported.
They continued to fight all the way to his home on Maine Avenue in Fort Myers, where his girlfriend locked herself in a room,.
Lopez is reported to have removed the door knob to get inside the bathroom and began to suffocate her.

Lopez’s mother heard the commotion and then called the police. The baby wasn’t injured, officials said.
The girlfriend wasn’t named.
Lopez has been charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery by strangulation. He has since been released and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 10, according to county records.
