Kwankwaso, Buhari hold secret meeting inside Aso Rock

A former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Friday had a secret meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting took place after the duo had joined other Muslim faithful in observing jumaat prayer at the State House mosque.

The outcome of the meeting is still unknown as there was no official communication from the Presidency on what Buhari and Kwankwaso discussed.

The former governor left the Presidential Villa without addressing State House correspondents.

However, sources said the visit might not be unconnected with the ongoing war between Kwankwaso and his successor, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

They were reported to have fallen out with each other barely five months after Kwankwaso handed over power to Ganduje, on the ground of disagreements over cabinet appointments.

The Kano State branch of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had once threatened to sanction Kwankwaso over alleged “political misconduct.”

This was about the first time Kwankwaso would hold such a private meeting with President Buhari in Aso Rock.
