Ondo guber: Group raises alarm over EFCC’s alleged plan to arrest AD candidate, Oke

A group known as the Ondo Rebirth Group, ORG, has raised the alarm over alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to intimidate the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, Chief Olusola Oke in the build up to the forthcoming Governorship election in the State, scheduled for the 26th of November this year.

The group, rising from its general meeting in Akure, Ondo State on Thursday, said it has uncovered an orchestrated plan by some persons within the Nigerian Presidency, to use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to harass Chief Oke, using some trumped up charges against him by the commission.”

The ONDO rebirth group (ORG) a body of young professionals keenly interested in the salvation of the lost glory of Ondo State as the state warms up for the 2016 governorship election strongly wants to put on record the unearthing of a plan by the Federal Government to as usual, use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to distract the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in the state, Chief Olusola Oke, in order to scuttle his governorship ambitions.

We have reliably gathered that an official of the presidency, who is a close ally of the EFCC Chairman, recently met with a chieftain of the APC from Ondo State where it was decided that the only way to stop the continued rising profile and acceptability of Chief Olusola Oke, who is being projected by several opinions to win the Ondo governorship election, is to use the EFCC (to) embarrass him and distract him from his campaigns at a very critical period like this.

Details of the plan revealed that the AD candidate, Olusola Oke would be picked up under trumped-up charges with organised media publicity to turn voters in Ondo against him. The APC leadership in Ondo State are worried that in just a few weeks, Oke has virtually taken over the state from other contestants and the possibility of their candidate emerging victorious at the polls is getting slimmer by the days.

Recall that Chief Olusola Oke, the gubernatorial candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, in Ondo State, defected from the APC after manipulations that characterised the Ondo APC Guber primaries, where he participated.
His defection from the APC, have put him at loggerheads with the APC causing the top party members, to disown him and many others following the fallout of the primaries.

Chief Oke had consistently attributed his defection to lack of democratic tenets during the APC primaries and the injustice that followed.

Oke’s clean record of service and contact with the grassroots is his major selling point in the Governorship contest in Ondo State.

They have nothing tangible on him, but all they want is to use the EFCC to cause public embarrassment through the media, which they then use it to weaken Oke’s popularity in November 26, 2016 Governorship race in Ondo State.

We therefore warn that any of such ideas should not be tried as nothing can successfully weaken the strength of the support that Chief Olusola Oke is having and it is a dream and all goal whose time is ripe and right.

We call on the good people of ONDO state to wake up and resist any attempt to thwart the popular movement and the ever rising popularity and acceptability of Olusola Oke.

It is time for us as a people to free ourselves from the robbers that has held our Commonwealth by the jugular and not wanting to let go while not falling yet again for the empty promises of the APC and their antics judging by what woe the party leadership at the centre has brought upon us as a people of this nation.

Chief Olusola Oke is the man whose time is right and whose best is now and hence the only person who has a contact with the good people of the state having lived with them all his life and knows where and what their pains and needs are.
