Residents manhandle policeman for pushing man into gutter

Some residents of Oshodi, Lagos State on Friday attacked two policemen who pushed a man into a gutter while trying to arrest a commercial bus driver in the area.

The incident happened at airport bus stop at about 12pm.

The policemen reportedly came in a wagon.


In a viral video, an irate mob in the area apprehended the policemen but one escaped by the whiskers.

They asked the apprehended police officer to go into the gutter and bring out the old man.

The policeman jumped in and picked the old man up, but at that point, the victim reportedly seemed unconscious.

Although his eyes were open, his face was bruised but reports say it was obvious he needed immediate medical attention.


However, as the policeman held his victim, one of the men in the crowd held him tightly, kicking him in the head.

Some other onlookers jumped into the gutter and attacked the policeman who eventually dropped the old man back on the ground and tried to run away but was nabbed.

The man is said to be receiving treatment.
