Financial problems promote sexual harassment in Nollywood – Actress, Yetunde Adewale

Budding actress, Yetunde Adewale, has said the cause of rising sexual harassment in the Nigerian movie industry was financial problems.
The actress, who categorically stated that she has never faced sexual harassment in the industry, told the Punch that sponsors, producers and the likes always expect to get something in return.

She said, “I have never been sexually harassed but harassment is a product of financial challenges. If you do not have any financial constraint, you will not need to go and beg anybody except you are soliciting for a role because they do not know you yet.

“That is why it is advisable to start your own movie, get other brilliant actors to feature in it and it would boost your profile as an actor.

“Financial constraint could cause an actress to face sexual harassment in the movie industry. Lack of financial support could lead to an actress facing sexual harassment.

“When you need a sponsor for your project and you approach some men, they would not support you except they are getting something in return,” Yetunde noted.
