Port Harcourt Lawyer calls for resignation of INEC boss, Prof. Yakubu

A Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner, Osi Olisah has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Olisah in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said the INEC had shown incompetence in the conduct of elections in different parts of the country.

He said Professor Yakubu cannot sustain the precedence set by his predecessor, Professor Attahiru Jega.

The Lawyer said the INEC boss was causing insecurity in the country, stressing that the decisions of the Commission were provocative.

According to him, “The man who is now the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission is destroying the legacy that has been built by Attahiru Jega because he is taking Nigeria backward. We are retrogressing in terms of electioneering. All the elections this man has conducted so far has been inconclusive.

“Yakubu is gradually creating insecurity. He is taking decisions that are provoking people. Decisions that are not welcome.

“I want to use this medium to call for the resignation of the Chairman of INEC. He is simply not competent to continue in that office. He should relinquish the position for people who are seasoned in the craft to conduct elections in Nigeria.”
