Woman abandons child with clothes in church [PHOTO]

A woman, identified only as Monica, has reportedly dumped her child at a church in Cross Rivers State.
Monica abandoned her one year and five-month-old child at the Assemblies of God church in Obudu and fled.

The baby was discovered at the church premises on August 4 at about 2:30pm by the reverend, Francis Agianpuye.


Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ms. Irene Ugbo, told newsmen in the state on Thursday that the child was abandoned with some clothes in a white sack bag.

She noted that the cleric, on discovering the child, had reported the matter at the Obudu Police Station and had sent some youths to go in search of the mother but as at press time, she had not been found.

The PPRO said the child is currently with the cleric who is acting as a custodian and command had started searching for the fleeing mother.
