Benue community faults police over claim that only one person died in Fulani attack

The Benue State police command has claimed that only one person was killed in the latest attack orchestrated by the Fulani Herdsmen in the state.
However, residents of the affected community insist that the police were economical with the truth as over 14 persons were massacred by the rampaging herdsmmen.

Benue state police spokesman Moses Yamu said the farmers were attacked earlier in the week on their way to their farms near the border with Taraba state.

“Yesterday at about 0830 hours, four persons were attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Tse-Adayol in Logo local government area. One was killed, one missing and two injured and currently receiving treatment,” Yamu said.

He faulted the media for reporting that over 14 persons were killed in the latest attack.

However, findings by DAILY POST show that no fewer than 14 persons were killed while several others were injured and missing.

A resident of the area who gave his name as Tar told our reporter on phone that the police lied in their statement that only one person died.

“It is a big lie. As we speak, I am live Tse-Adayol where the attack was carried out. In fact, I counted over 11 corpses the very day the attack happened. The following day, we discovers three other bodies. How did they arrive at the conclusion that only one person died”? He queried.

Speaking further, the resident said over 7 persons have been missing since the village was raided.
