?Fayose pardons teachers using students as farm labourer

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has pardoned teachers indicted for using students as labourers in their personal farms during school hours.
The governor, however, warned that such incidents should not be repeated in future.

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor said a situation whereby students who ought to be in class would be made to go and work on farms owned by teachers under the guise of teaching them practical agriculture would no longer be tolerated.

The governor noted that each school hour must be appropriately used to teach the students.

Recall that some months ago, some concerned parents of students at Elo High School, Ayetoro-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state sent messages to the governor to complain about their wards being turned to farm hands by teachers during school hours.

A team, led by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola, was mandated by the governor to visit the school and ?investigate the matter.

Some teachers were indicted by the report of the committee? and some punitive actions were to be taken against them.

However, Governor Fayose said he would not punish the indicted teachers, but warned against a recurrence.
