Reconciliation: PDP members must stop talking too much – Makarfi

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, said his committee would not foreclose the path of reconciliation in resolving the party’s leadership crisis.
Makarfi said this when the PDP North-West leadership paid a solidarity visit to the Committee on Wednesday in Abuja.

He added that reconciliation remained the best option of attaining peace in spite of the ongoing legal cases over the party’s leadership crisis.

The chairman of the caretaker committee noted that “all legal determinations” on the party’s leadership tussle were in favour of the Port Harcourt national convention decision, but there was still need for reconciliation.

He pledged that the Committee would work on its mandates to deliver to the expectations and satisfaction of the party members.

“We will do the needful and remain tactical, as well as avoid talking too much with a view to resolving the party’s conflict,’’ he said.

He added that the Committee would also organise a national convention within the time frame given to it.

Sen. Ibrahim Kazaure, the PDP National Vice Chairman, North West Zone, who led the delegation, said leaders of all the seven states of the North West were on solidarity visit to the National Caretaker Committee.

He said “the purpose of this visit is to declare total support for the entire PDP North West to one of our own (Makarfi).

“We are here to identify with you as the only hope for the PDP to move forward.

“You’re the only one that can reposition this party. You have been a governor for eight years and when you were there, we know what you achieved,’’ Kazaure said. (NAN)
